Effect of Load on Tribological Characteristics of H-AlSi24Cu3.8Mg0.8 Alloy Under Dry, Lubricated, and Coated (a–c: H) Sliding Conditions

This paper presents the new route of fabrication H-AlSi24Cu3.8Mg0.8 alloy, assisted by ultrasonic vibration stirring and squeeze casting (UVSS). The primary objective this investigation is to establish tribological characteristics prepared aluminium alloy under dry, lubricated, coated sliding conditions. Oil SAE20W40 used as a lubricant diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating. Under load between 20 N 50 N, linear reciprocating tribometer (LRT) with ball-on-plate geometry used. Alloy was examined using an optical microscope, scanning electron microscope EDS, 3D surface profilometer, Brinell hardness tester, tensometer for pre- postcharacterization surface, worn tracks. DLC-coated condition yields lowest wear coefficient friction.
